Antwerp!

City center train station (Have no idea what Winkels is...just thought it was a perfect Flemish word so decided to include it in the picture)

It was raining almost all day..but we still had a great time!

In front of the Fashion Museum!

Antwerp is the "Fashion capital" of Belgium. So, of course we had to go to  MoMu, the fashion museum there.

This was an exhibition showing off the designs of a famous French  clothing designer, Madame Gres,  from 1903-1993. She is famous for draping the fabric directly onto the model, without using any scissor or needles. She was known as "the pioneer of seamless garments" and designed for many celebrities including Edith Piaf, Jacki Kennedy and Grace Kelly.

Just love this dress

Looks like a women space warrior outfit..

I thought this was interesting because it looks like a very sharp, let's-get-down-to-business- suit, but then it has a slit to show your bare sides.. Did this mark the beginning of the sexy office worker period?

Apparently these are bathing outfits... All I can say is, thank god bikinis are acceptable to wear nowadays

The museum

Poster for another exhibition, with a totally different style. The artist was famous for putting together many random, colorful materials to create clothing that resembled a male bird who has colorful feathers to attract mates....

Check out the whacked-out picture in the background (if you can't quite tell what it is, I can assure you it is a fat white cat with giant noses surrounding it, I swear.)

Look at those fingernails! (I guess they are supposed to represent bird claws?)

That is a potato that just happens to look like what I know you are thinking it looks like. But it's a potato! Promise!

See, I told you.

Very sleek, mod, clothing store next to museum. Nothing under 500 euros in there.

Gotta love sunglass photos

Examples of typical Belgian house style

Lavender cupcakes!

Belgium is very proud of its beers. Probably because they are one of the only few things the country is actually know for.... But hey, for being such a small country, I think its done pretty well. It's famous for all tasty things in life: chocolate, waffles and beer.

The "Grote Markt"

City Hall

Church. (gotta go in at least one whenever you visit a new European city).

They make everything here out of chocolate...even iPads!

Vero (my friend from Austria)

One of the many waaaay outdated tour guides we found at a travel cafe. What, you may ask, is a travel cafe? Basically, it was formed by a group of Belgians who thought travelling in groups would be fun, so they made a organisation that formed trips fro large groups, and build little cafes in different cities all over the world, where the groups could meet up. Each of the cafes is filled with random travel guides like this one.

If you haven't laughed today yet, just read the last paragraph at the bottom of this page. (It's from the guide pictured above)

Yes, I just had to buy a cupcake.

In front of the harbor! Antwerp is a big port city, in case you didn't know.

Beautiful night view from top of big building (forgot name of it..)

No idea what my hand is trying to form in this picture... I think I was about to do a peace sign and then the lady took the picture. Oh well...

CUPCAKE!! (it was raspberry...yum)

We thought this was German at first...that's how similar it is to Flemish.

All the road signs in Antwerp have faces on them...

I wish this menu was right...but unfortunately Belgian beer is just as bad for your liver as every other alcoholic beverage.

We stayed overnight at a friend's apartment who lives in Antwerp  and on Sunday the sun was shining and the weather was amazing.

Major shopping street in Antwerp (Antwerp is really really great for shopping!)

Told you all the signs have a face on them! What a crazy city...

Inside joke picture, which I will explain. Here, we are eating Australian ice cream (it was right before we were getting on the train to go back to Brussels, which we barley made on time). During the whole trip, whenever we thought something was cool, we would say AWEEESOMEEE in an Australian accent because Vero was talking about how this person who works at the hostel she lives at (her host family owns a hostel) is from Australia and always says awesome.. So then we found Australian ice cream randomly in Antwerp of all places and we couldn't help but buy some and say.....AWEEESOMEEE!!!!:)
